
Michelle Ostermann is a globally recognised pension leader and thought leader in pension system design, with over 30 years of experience across investment management, governance, and public policy.
She currently serves as Chair of the International Centre for Pension Management (ICPM), a global network of leading asset owners representing over $8 trillion in assets. Through ICPM, she works closely with the world’s largest and most sophisticated pension institutions on investment strategy, governance, and long-term value creation.
Michelle most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of the UK Pension Protection Fund (PPF). She previously held senior leadership roles including Senior Vice President and Global Head of Capital Markets at PSP Investments, and Managing Director at Railpen Investments in the UK.
She is widely known for advancing the concept of pension systems as part of a country’s “capital architecture”—institutions that not only deliver retirement income but also shape long-term economic growth. Her work focuses on how large, fiduciary asset owners can deploy capital more effectively to improve both retirement outcomes and national prosperity.
Michelle holds the CFA designation and the ICD.D certification in corporate governance.
